The Imole Campaign Council of Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke has raised concerns over the alleged presence of the Resident Electoral Commissioner for Ebonyi State, Pauline Ugoyenka, in Osun ahead of Saturday's governorship election.
The campaign council urged the Independent National Electoral Commission to clarify Ugoyenka's presence in the state, arguing her name did not appear on the list of RECs officially deployed to Osun for the August 15 poll. According to the council, an INEC letter dated August 3 identified officials and states providing supervisory contingents for the election from 15 contributing states, and Ebonyi was not among them.
The council, through the Chairman of its Media and Publicity Committee, Bamidele Salam, demanded immediate clarification from INEC on the production and verification of ballot papers and result sheets to be used in the election. "We therefore demand immediate clarification from INEC and insist that only properly customised ballot papers and result sheets specifically produced and verified for the Osun governorship election must be used," the statement said, adding that the council would not accept any arrangement capable of compromising the transparency of the vote.
