The EU Support to Democratic Governance in Nigeria Election Observation Hub recorded 323 cases of electoral offences and 38 security incidents during Saturday's Osun governorship election, based on reports from 823 accredited observers across the state's 30 local government areas.
Of the offences recorded across 726 monitored polling units, 103 involved alleged vote trading, 85 involved exposed ballots, and 38 involved campaigning at polling units. The Hub also documented 25 cases of thuggery, 12 attacks on electoral officials, and 9 cases of voter intimidation allegedly involving security personnel.
Despite the irregularities, the Hub described turnout as "impressive" and voting as largely peaceful overall, with 58 of 726 BVAS devices malfunctioning, though 41 were later repaired. It urged INEC and security agencies to address the identified gaps, and said it had verified 11 false claims circulating about the election.
