Troops of Operation HADIN KAI repelled a multi-pronged attack by ISWAP terrorists on a Forward Operating Base in Mandaragirau, Biu Local Government Area of Borno State, in the early hours of Saturday.

The attack began around 2am when terrorists simultaneously advanced on the base from two directions. According to Acting Military Information Officer Captain Muhammed Goni, troops detected the advance through early-warning and surveillance systems and deployed a combat team to intercept the attackers along one of their approach routes, triggering a heavy exchange of fire.

The terrorists suffered several casualties in the engagement, with none recorded on the Nigerian side. Troops recovered weapons, ammunition, and communication equipment from the scene. The military said further exploitation of the area was ongoing, and reaffirmed its commitment to sustaining pressure on ISWAP across the North-East.
