Rivers State Governor Siminalayi Fubara has publicly endorsed Kingsley Chinda, governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress, as his preferred successor, declaring his support for the Rainbow Coalition backed by FCT Minister Nyesom Wike.

Speaking at the commissioning of the Rivers Medical Industries Project in Port Harcourt, Fubara said, "We have made peace in the state, and we have a total agreement. I am supporting our rainbow party, our Rainbow Coalition. President Bola Tinubu is our president, and he is the one we are supporting."

Fubara had initially been screened alongside Chinda for the APC governorship primary before withdrawing, citing a commitment to peace and unity in the state. The endorsement marks a significant turning point after a prolonged political feud between Fubara and Wike that had triggered impeachment efforts against the governor before both camps reached a truce.
