Katsina State Governor Dikko Radda and DSS Director-General Oluwatosin Ajayi have called for stronger collaboration among security agencies, government institutions, and communities to tackle terrorism and banditry across Nigeria's North-West.
The two spoke Thursday at the second North-West Zonal Conference of State Directors of Security in Katsina, themed "Unite Against Terror." Radda, represented by his deputy, Faruk Jobe, said the region's security challenges were interconnected and required a coordinated response, noting that about 26 local government areas in Katsina had faced constant attacks when his administration took office. He credited a mix of security operations and social interventions, including free medical care for banditry victims and agricultural support, with improving the situation.
Ajayi, represented by Kano State DSS Director Husseini Abubakar, said the DSS was strengthening its personnel's tactical capabilities to respond to emerging threats, and stressed the need for continued cooperation among security and law enforcement agencies. The conference was expected to produce a communique outlining measures on intelligence sharing, joint operations, and community engagement across the region.
