Police in Kwara State have arrested a suspect identified as Sanda Aliyu after he attempted to purchase an AK-47 rifle for ₦1.6 million, foiling the illegal arms procurement deal.

The arrest is part of ongoing efforts by the Kwara Police Command to intercept illegal weapons circulation in the state, with investigations continuing to trace the source of the firearm and identify any other individuals connected to the transaction.

Police in the state have stepped up operations against illegal arms trafficking in recent weeks amid broader national concern over weapons flowing into the hands of criminal and armed groups.
