The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency has intercepted a combined haul of cocaine, cannabis, and opioids worth an estimated N10 billion at Lagos ports and courier facilities, in operations conducted across a single week.
NDLEA spokesperson Femi Babafemi said the operations covered the Murtala Muhammed International Airport, the Apapa seaport, courier firms, and locations across Lagos, Katsina, and Edo states, combining intelligence-led airport and seaport interdictions with the unravelling of an organised cocaine export syndicate.
Among those arrested was 55-year-old businessman Onuigbo Ndubisi Chinedu, accused of masterminding an attempt to export cocaine to the United Kingdom through the Lagos airport. In a separate seizure, operatives recovered 2.24 million pills of Tapentadol valued at over N2.2 billion in cargo from India, while a raid in Edo State's Ilushi community produced over 1.2 tonnes of cannabis.
