The Nigeria Football Federation has constituted a fact-finding committee to investigate the country's recent poor performances in international competitions, with particular focus on the Super Falcons' failure to qualify for the 2027 FIFA Women's World Cup.
The decision follows Nigeria's exit at the WAFCON quarter-final stage and a subsequent 2-1 playoff defeat to South Africa that ended the Super Falcons' unbroken run of World Cup appearances dating back to the tournament's first edition in 1991. Ambassador Fanny Amun will chair the six-member committee, joined by former Flying Eagles coach Ladan Bosso, former Super Falcons captain Desire Oparanozie, former Super Eagles midfielder Mutiu Adepoju, and Dr Alex Mana, with Nasiru Jibril serving as secretary.
The NFF said the committee's mandate extends beyond the Super Falcons, taking in Nigeria's broader disappointing run across age-grade and senior competitions, including the Golden Eaglets missing the FIFA U-17 World Cup and the Flying Eagles failing to qualify for the FIFA U-20 World Cup.
