The Headquarters Theatre Command, Joint Task Force North West, Operation FANSAN YAMMA, has launched Operation CLEAN SWEEP IV, a simultaneous and deliberate offensive designed to intensify pressure on terrorist and armed criminal elements across the region.
The operation brings coordinated ground and air actions to bear on identified threats across the North Western states, aiming to degrade terrorist capabilities, disrupt their movements and logistics, and deny them the opportunity to establish footholds within Nigerian communities.
In Katsina State, troops of Sector 2 conducted a clearance operation on August 12 around suspected terrorist enclaves along the Dutsinma Local Government Area, forcing terrorists to abandon their positions and withdraw into surrounding bushes. In Zamfara State, the Air Component of Operation FANSAN YAMMA executed precision strikes following intelligence on terrorists converging on motorcycles in Anka Local Government Area, neutralising scores of fighters.
A major component of Operation CLEAN SWEEP IV is the deliberate effort to contain and dismantle the Lakurawa terrorist network across the theatre, preventing the group's infiltration and reinforcement while denying it the ability to exploit border areas as corridors for movement and logistics.
