Governor Ademola Adeleke won his own polling unit in Saturday's Osun State governorship election, securing 421 votes at Ward 02, Polling Unit 009, Abogunde Compound, in Ede North Local Government Area.
The result triggered celebrations among the governor's supporters gathered at the polling unit, with jubilant Accord Party members hailing the outcome as sorting and collation of results progressed across the state. Adeleke had earlier expressed confidence in retaining his seat after casting his ballot at the same polling unit that morning.
His main rival, APC candidate Bola Oyebamiji, similarly voiced optimism about his own chances after voting at Ward 09, Polling Unit 011, in Ikire, Irewole Local Government Area, as both camps awaited fuller results from across Osun's 30 local government areas.
