Governor Ademola Adeleke's Accord Party defeated the APC at the polling unit of former Osun State Governor Olagunsoye Oyinlola, in a result notable for coming despite Oyinlola's recent public endorsement of APC candidate Bola Oyebamiji.
The election, conducted at Court Hall I, Okuku, in Odo-Otin Local Government Area, saw Adeleke's Accord Party secure a 40-vote margin over the APC. Of 228 accredited voters, 220 valid votes were cast, with eight ballots rejected. Minor parties recorded only a handful of votes between them, with several fielding no votes at all at the unit.
Oyinlola, who governed Osun State from 2003 to 2010, had thrown his weight behind Oyebamiji's candidacy ahead of the election despite his own political history within opposition ranks, making the local outcome at his home polling unit a notable talking point as results trickle in from across the state.
