The Oyo State Police Command has arrested 10 suspected members of a syndicate allegedly involved in the trade of human body parts, following months of intelligence gathering and discreet surveillance across the state.
The suspects, identified as Adam Ibrahim, Nasiru Kabiru, Tijani Wasiu, Abiola Nasiru, Amusa Gbadamosi, Raheem Taofeek, Jimoh Muritala, Suleiman Busari, Ganiyu Nurudeen, and Usman Abdullahi, were apprehended at separate hideouts in the Iseyin and Saki areas of the state by operatives of the Command Monitoring Unit. Police spokesperson DSP Olayinka Ayanlade said searches of the hideouts recovered "one suspected human heart, human flesh, pieces of human skull and assorted charms."
The recovered items have been secured for forensic examination as investigators work to determine their source and intended use. The suspects reportedly confessed to varying levels of involvement in the trade for ritual purposes and are assisting police with further investigations. Commissioner of Police Abimbola Ayodeji Olugbenga commended the operation and said efforts were ongoing to identify and arrest other members of the alleged syndicate.
