President Bola Tinubu, Vice President Kashim Shettima, and Central Bank of Nigeria Governor Olayemi Cardoso are among the dignitaries expected to headline the Chartered Institute of Bankers of Nigeria's 19th Annual Banking and Finance Conference, scheduled for September 8-9 at the Transcorp Hilton in Abuja.

Described as the largest gathering of banking and financial professionals in Africa, the conference is expected to draw over 10,000 delegates including banking executives, regulators, fintech leaders, and development partners, with World Bank Country Director for Nigeria Matthew Verghese delivering the keynote address. CIBN President Dele Alabi said the event would focus on economic resilience amid technological and geopolitical disruption, adding, "an economy cannot grow to a $1 trillion mark without the support of the financial services sector."

The conference will feature sessions examining the implications of bank recapitalisation, artificial intelligence, and geopolitical dynamics on Nigeria's financial system, with CIBN urging banks to deploy fresh capital raised from recapitalisation toward supporting MSMEs as the country pursues its economic growth targets.
