Abiodun Receives Hundreds of PDP, ADC Defectors Into APC, Mobilises Ogun East for 2027

Ogun State Governor Dapo Abiodun has received hundreds of PDP and ADC members into the APC at a reception in Ijebu-Ode, consolidating the party’s hold on Ogun East ahead of the 2027 elections.

Ogun State Governor and leader of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Prince Dapo Abiodun, has formally welcomed hundreds of former members of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and African Democratic Congress (ADC) — including party leaders from the nine local government areas of Ogun East Senatorial District — into the ruling party.

The defectors were received at an elaborate reception held at the Ojude-Oba carnival ground in Ijebu-Ode, filled to capacity with APC members, supporters and new entrants. Welcoming them, Abiodun said their decision showed they had “seen the light,” and assured them of equal treatment and full integration into the party.

The governor pointed to his administration’s record since 2019, saying more than 100 roads had been built across Ogun East, and listed projects including the Gateway International Airport and the Olokola Deep Sea Port. Ogun APC Chairman Chief Yemi Sanusi attributed the influx of opposition members to the administration’s performance, while the defectors pledged loyalty and vowed to work for the party’s victory in 2027.
