Nigerian Exchange Climbs as Market Capitalisation Adds ₦305bn

The Nigerian Exchange All-Share Index gained 473 points on Thursday, adding ₦305.56 billion to market capitalisation, as trading resumed after the Eid al-Mawlud holiday.


The Nigerian Exchange (NGX) climbed on Thursday, August 27, 2026, as the All-Share Index added 473.17 points, or 0.20 per cent, to close at 239,156.09 points.

Market capitalisation rose by ₦305.56 billion to close at ₦154.44 trillion. Market breadth was negative despite the overall gain, with 22 stocks advancing, 40 declining and 85 closing unchanged. OMATEK led the gainers, rising 9.60 per cent to ₦1.37, followed by Cornerstone Insurance and Mansard, while Fidson paced the losers, shedding 9.98 per cent to close at ₦75.80.

Zenith Bank was the most actively traded stock by volume, with 69.95 million shares changing hands. Total volume for the session stood at 499.94 million shares, valued at ₦35.14 billion across 40,269 deals. The rebound followed a recent multi-session correction on the exchange.
