The family of veteran Nollywood actor Taiwo Hassan, popularly known as Ogogo, has announced that a Fidau prayer in his honour will hold on August 31, 2026, as part of Islamic rites following his death on August 23 after a battle with stage-four cancer.
Veteran actor Yinka Quadri has recounted the emotional final moments he shared with his longtime friend and colleague before his passing, while fellow Nollywood veteran Dele Odule paid an emotional tribute, reflecting the close bonds within the Yoruba film industry that Ogogo helped build over more than four decades.
Nollywood is expected to hold a broader 40-day tribute in the actor’s honour in the weeks following his death, as colleagues and fans continue to mourn one of the industry’s most recognisable figures.
