Tinubu Swears In Abel Enitan as New Head of Civil Service of the Federation

President Tinubu has sworn in Abel Olumuyiwa Enitan as the new Head of Civil Service of the Federation, succeeding Didi Esther Walson-Jack, who retired at the mandatory age of 60.
President Bola Tinubu on Thursday, August 27, 2026, swore in Mr Abel Olumuyiwa Enitan as the new Head of Civil Service of the Federation (HoCSF), at a brief ceremony held at the State House, Abuja.
Enitan succeeds Mrs Didi Esther Walson-Jack, who retired after attaining the mandatory retirement age of 60. Tinubu had named Enitan, the most senior Permanent Secretary in the Federal Civil Service, as the incoming Head of Service on August 19, 2026, with the appointment taking formal effect on August 27. Walson-Jack presented her handover note, covering her tenure from August 14, 2024, to August 27, 2026, before the two officials exchanged a handshake to mark the transfer of responsibilities.
Enitan, an indigene of Osun State, had served as Permanent Secretary for seven years and seven months across the Ministry of Police Affairs, the Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs, the Office of the Vice President, the Ministry of Environment and, most recently, the Federal Ministry of Education. President Tinubu urged him to uphold the highest standards of professionalism, integrity, accountability and efficiency, and to build a more merit-driven and responsive civil service in line with the administration’s Renewed Hope Agenda.
