Dangote Refinery has expanded its free petroleum product delivery initiative to Kano, Imo, Anambra and Nasarawa states, aiming to cut distribution costs and create room for lower pump prices.
Dangote Petroleum Refinery and Petrochemicals has expanded its free petroleum product delivery initiative to Kano, Imo, Anambra and Nasarawa states, in a move expected to reduce distribution costs for independent marketers and create room for lower petrol prices at the pump.
The initiative, which began with deliveries to Lagos, Ogun, Rivers, Kaduna, Delta and the Federal Capital Territory, is designed to bring products closer to marketers and retailers while removing the cost of transporting fuel over long distances. By absorbing the delivery cost, the refinery is removing one of the key expenses built into the downstream distribution chain.
Group Executive Director, Commercial Operations, Fatima Aliko Dangote, said the aim was to ensure the benefits of domestic refining flow through to businesses and consumers beyond the refinery gate. Independent marketers, through IPMAN spokesman Chinedu Ukadike, welcomed the move and urged the refinery to extend it to more locations, particularly across northern Nigeria, describing it as “the beauty of deregulation and competition.” The refinery has a stated capacity of 650,000 barrels per day.
