NDLEA Arrests Influencer ‘KC Luxury’ Over Alleged ₦39bn Cocaine Cartel as He Tried to Flee to Paris

The NDLEA says it has arrested Lagos socialite and influencer Afolabi Kazeem Michael, known online as “KC Luxury,” over his alleged role in an international cocaine syndicate, after intercepting a record 184.5kg cocaine consignment.
The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) has arrested Lagos socialite and social media influencer Afolabi Kazeem Michael, popularly known online as “KC Luxury,” over his alleged role in an international cocaine trafficking syndicate.
NDLEA Chairman Brig. Gen. Mohamed Buba Marwa (retd.) announced the arrest at a press briefing in Lagos on Tuesday, August 18, 2026, describing the operation as one of the agency’s most significant narcotics investigations in recent times. According to the agency, the case began with the interception of 184.50 kilograms of cocaine concealed in a consignment being processed for export through a courier logistics company in Lagos — said to be the largest quantity of cocaine the NDLEA has ever intercepted through a courier company in the country.
The agency said Michael was apprehended on the night of August 13, 2026, at the boarding gate of the Murtala Muhammed International Airport, Lagos, as he allegedly attempted to board a business-class flight to Paris. The NDLEA said he was found with foreign currencies — €7,750, £2,800 and ₦100,000 — along with expensive jewellery, and that a search of his apartment on Banana Island, Ikoyi, recovered exotic vehicles.
Investigators alleged that Michael, who publicly presented himself as a businessman dealing in gold, jewellery and luxury goods, served as the cartel’s Nigerian “arrowhead,” and estimated the syndicate stood to earn as much as ₦39 billion from the shipment across a network spanning the UK, Europe and Asia. A logistics-firm employee, Lawal Mujab Kehinde, was also arrested in connection with the case. None of the suspects has been convicted of any offence.
