NDLEA Destroys Nearly 330,000kg of Illicit Drugs Worth ₦301 Billion in Lagos

The drug agency publicly destroyed a record haul of narcotics valued at over ₦301 billion in a court-ordered exercise at Navy Town, Ojo.
The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) has publicly destroyed 329,865.585 kilograms of assorted illicit drugs with an estimated street value of ₦301.058 billion, in a court-ordered exercise at Navy Town, Ojo, Lagos, on Monday, August 17.
According to the agency, 246,864.535 kilograms were seized by its Lagos Strategic Command between April 2025 and May 2026, with the remaining 83,001.05 kilograms intercepted by the Murtala Muhammed International Airport, Tincan, Apapa, Marine and special operations commands in Lagos.
The drugs included cocaine, heroin, methamphetamine, several strains of cannabis, ephedrine, tramadol, codeine syrup, other opioids and khat leaves.
NDLEA Chairman Brig. Gen. Mohamed Buba Marwa (retd.) described the destruction as a demonstration of Nigeria’s resolve to protect its people and starve criminal networks of resources. He said the exercise, ordered by the Federal High Court, disposed of drugs from concluded, uncontested cases and abandoned seizures, and linked drug trafficking to broader security threats including terrorism financing.
