President Tinubu has ordered the arrest of George Buchi Nwabueze and suspended three permanent secretaries after the ICPC uncovered another fake government agency operating inside the Office of the Secretary to the Government of the Federation.
President Bola Tinubu has ordered the immediate arrest of one George Buchi Nwabueze and the suspension of three permanent secretaries after the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC) uncovered another fake government agency operating within the Office of the Secretary to the Government of the Federation (OSGF).
ICPC Chairman Dr Musa Aliyu, SAN, disclosed the directives on Friday, August 21, 2026, while briefing State House correspondents in Abuja. He said the fake office — operating under the name “National Brands Development and Made-in-Nigeria Special Project Office” — had been allocated space within the OSGF without presidential authorisation and contrary to law. The suspended permanent secretaries were named as M.S. Danjuma, Nadungu Gagare and Richard P. Pheelangwah.
The discovery is the latest fallout from the ICPC’s investigation into the fictitious Presidential Foreign Intervention Promotion Council (PFIPC), whose self-styled Director-General, Adeniyi Adeyemi Matthew, is already facing forgery and impersonation charges. Investigators said Nwabueze had operated under at least four other name variations. The case brings the number of fake agencies uncovered in the PFIPC scandal to four since April. No wrongdoing has been established against those under investigation.
